TJ Dyer was brought into this Refinery Shutdown project early on in the planning phase to come up with a budget and a schedule for the entire refinery shutdown. We generated a manpower and cost loaded P6 (Primavera) schedule for all trades. During the two-week outage, we completed 12,500 total field man hours, 1,100 shop fab hours of demo, upgraded piping installs, valve replacements and safety management on the refineries’ major fixed equipment and all of the piping systems.
Alkermes is a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility located in Wilmington, OH. The multi-phase project consisted of a clean steam generator and associated distribution piping which included over 2,000 feet of orbitally welded stainless steel piping. The project also included 1,000 feet of WFI (Water for Injection) piping that was also an orbitally welded system. The final phase of work final connections to process equipment serving their production equipment. The project also required 142 tie-ins to multiple existing services over three shutdowns during the duration of the project.
In 2018 Koch Foods in Fairfield, OH underwent an expansive utilities upgrade to their existing facility. The thermal heating system was upgraded to a new 25,000 gallon 35 million BTU 4 burner unit. Over 600 feet of 18” full X-ray welded carbon steel distribution piping serves the existing facility. Our scope of work also included one 72-hour shutdown to tie in new distribution piping to cooking equipment to eliminate all but one day of processing time.
This project located at 5280 Vine Street in Cincinnati, OH is a complete pilot plant replacement in an existing facility. The project consists of fully welded stainless-steel high-pressure high temperature compressed air system, a stainless and carbon steel process steam system, as well as a high-pressure high temperature wash down system with 100% X-ray quality weld requirements.
TJ Dyer has completed work at multiple SugarCreek facilities throughout the region. Our scope of work has consisted of fully welded stainless steel underground piping systems to fully welded stainless steel process water lines. TJ Dyer has also worked with SugarCreek on 100% design assist projects involving full HVAC and process water systems.
Project Infinity is a 320,000-square-foot automated grocery sorting and delivery warehouse located in Monroe, OH. TJ Dyer installed the complete HVAC system along with the compressed air system serving the pneumatic controls for the robotic rail system.
JTM Food Group is a national leader in the creation of fully cooked food industry. In 2017 TJ Dyer installed Stainless Steel Process Piping, underfloor heating systems, as well as the complete HVAC system in their brand new 193,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and distribution center.
This project located in Wilder, Kentucky, added nearly 30,000 square feet and three additional fruit and vegetable sorting lines. TJ Dyer installed all washdown and equipment water piping as well as shop air systems for sorting equipment.
As part of our larger commercial projects, we designed and prefabricated this Chilled Water Pump skid. It is complete with four pumps, air separator, expansion tank and an 850-gallon buffer tank. This was insulated with an aluminum jacket so the skid could sit outdoors.
Stainless steel condensate truck loading skid. We built the frame, supports, all piping, welds, electrical wiring, and testing.Several iterations were added to this particular skid in our shop after it was in service. We have aftermarket repair capabilities to meet ever-changing customer needs.
These are crude condensate truck offloading skids for Marcellus/Utica shale. The split system at the discharge allowed for products to be diverted to multiple tanks dependent upon product density. We built these completely custom skids including the frame, supports, all piping, welds, electrical wiring, paint and testing.
This multi-purpose crude oil skid allowed for both truck loading and offloading in a small footprint. Our client requested the offloading line be heat traced due to high water content in a cold weather climate. We built this completely custom skid including the frame, supports, all piping, welds, paint and testing in under 16 weeks.
Dual-run pipeline metering skid with header and proving connections for crude oil service. We built the frame, supports, all piping, welds, electrical wiring, paint and testing.
Renovation of 12,000 square feet of existing hospital space at a local hospital. TJ Dyer installed the plumbing relocations, new medical gas piping, low voltage control wiring, panels, fixtures, insulation and medical gas outlets to the 2nd floor operating rooms and PACU at the hospital.

TJ Dyer replaced an aging boiler with a new, modern Cleaver-Brooks 2,500,000 Btu steam boiler. The boiler removal and replacement were completed in the summer of 2018. This new boiler is a completely integrated boiler, burner, and control system, which offers high efficiency, flexibility, reliability, safety and ease of maintenance.
Education – Pumping Station & Speed Drives Installation
New installation of multiple pumps and speed drives at a 200,000-square-foot high school. This new installation consisted of the installation of state-of-the-art pumps and speed drives for the reduction of energy usage and overall comfort throughout the entire school.
Business To Consumer Warehouse Facility – Rooftop Unit Replacements
Replacement of 25 large, Trane package rooftop units. This unique installation required the installation of the packaged rooftop units to take place on a Saturday, using a Sikorsky, heavy lift Skycrane helicopter. All units had to be rigged into place within a two-hour window.
Fabrication and installation of a pump skid at a local manufacturing facility. This pump skid was completely prefabricated, painted and tested at TJ Dyer’s in-house, 30,000-square-foot fabrication shop, in order to reduce manufacturing downtime for the client. The pump skid was delivered and installed with final connections being made onsite at the client’s facility.
Behavioral Health Facility – Cooling Tower Installation
Installation of two Evapco, 600 ton cooling towers at a local, 150 bed facility. Existing cooling towers were left operational with a two-hour switchover to the new cooling towers in order to keep this 24/7 facility operational.
Replacement of a Trane, 500 ton centrifugal chiller and piping inside of a highly automated, state-of-the-art, manufacturing facility consisting of 300,000 square feet of manufacturing space. This new installation was unique in the fact that the strict requirements called for zero downtime and having to rig the chiller in place using mechanical skates as the chiller was moved all the way through the manufacturing facility.
Water consumption reduction project at a medium security prison, housing 1,100 inmates project was completed in November 2017. TJ Dyer installed new, low water electronic water control valves for all of the faucets, showers, water closets and piping throughout the entire prison camp. This renovation reduced the total water consumption by 50% per year.

The Academic Science Building at UK is a 240,000-square-foot laboratory and classroom facility. It was completed in 2016. The Thomas J. Dyer Company was tasked with an aggressive schedule to install the HVAC/Plumbing and relied heavily on prefabricating miles of plumbing racks.
Miami University’s new geothermal plant was completed February of 2015. The $9 million project provides hot and cold water to three new dorms and a new dining hall on western campus through 72 miles of underground piping saving the university an estimated $1.5 million a year in total energy cost. The Thomas J. Dyer Company installed the HVAC/Plumbing systems and helped plan and spec out the project.
The 365,000-square-foot expansion to the existing hospital is home for musculoskeletal medicine. The $280 million project was completed in November 2015. The Thomas J. Dyer Company used its fabrication technology to build and install corridor racks due to the tight logistics and schedule.
This project is a creationist theme park and the centerpiece of the park is a large representation of Noah's Ark spanning 510 feet long. The Thomas J. Dyer installed a VRF and HVAC systems.
The Cincinnati based consumer products company developed a fat substitute product called Olestra and constructed a facility capable of producing 200 million pounds of Olestra per year. The Thomas J. Dyer Company was involved with the installation of the HVAC/Plumbing systems and a very constrained schedule resulting in an overall daily peak crew size of over 200 craft workers.
The University of Kentucky’s Research Building 2 is a state-of-the-art research facility focused on Kentucky health disparities that impact the state. This $265 million dollar building that has an overall design of 300,000 square feet will accommodate over 500 researchers such as Principal Investigators, postdoctoral scholars, graduate and undergraduate students. Thomas J. Dyer’s overall scope of work consisted of installing fourteen air handling units, High-Pressure Steam Systems, Chilled and Hot Water Systems, HVAC Systems, and an Energy Recovery System that will help save the university thousands of dollars annually by recovering and reusing energy in the HVAC systems.
The 1 million-square-foot hospital is still under construction. This state-of-the-art facility is a key milestone in achieving University of Kentucky’s vision to become a world-class academic medical center and the state’s most comprehensive and advanced health care system. The Thomas J. Dyer Company is currently involved in the installation of the HVAC/Plumbing systems.
The Kentucky Horse Park features 5,700 stadium seats and nine suites with 200 suite seats, a 135 x 300-foot (41 x 91m) event floor (equal to one US football field or four basketball courts) with special equine surface, 20,000 square feet (1,858 square meters) of exhibitor space, six concession areas, a warm-up barn, outdoor warm-up ring, and bathrooms with 91 stalls. The Thomas J. Dyer Company specified and installed a state-of-the-art HVAC system that included a special system for live animals and smoke evacuation.
Great American Tower at Queen City Square is a state-of-the-art 41-story office tower located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati’s business district. The over 800,000-square-foot building provides highly-efficient floorplates ranging from 21,000-26,000 square feet on its 33 office floors. The Thomas J. Dyer Company installed an Advanced HVAC/Plumbing systems and is currently servicing the Tower’s needs.
The 400,000-square-foot hospital complex services the healthcare needs in Dayton, Ohio. The $135 million hospital was completed February 2012. The Thomas J. Dyer Company helped budget and price the project as well as winning the installation of the HVAC and Plumbing systems.
The Cincinnati based consumer products company has created a 1.2-million-square-foot Beauty Innovation Center to focus on research and development for products such as Olay, Old Spice and Pantene. The Thomas J. Dyer Company was involved with the installation of the HVAC/Plumbing systems in Buildings K & M.
Since 1988, Toyota has been manufacturing cars in Georgetown, KY. In recent years, the plant has been expanded to increase capacity. The Thomas J. Dyer Company is currently on site working on these expansions, including large HVAC systems that had to be lifted by helicopter.

University of Cincinnati Fifth Third Arena Renovation
The 220,000-square-foot renovation of the multi-purpose arena will be transformed to a modern 360° seating bowl for approximately 11,500 spectators with updated concessions, to seating options and newly renovated suites. The Thomas J. Dyer Company was involved with the installation of the HVAC/Plumbing systems.
Situated between Cincinnati and Dayton, Liberty Center brings together over 100 acres to form a community-centric and balanced approach to private-public place to work, shop, eat and live. The Thomas J. Dyer Company finished on site in 2015 with multi HVAC/Plumbing. Multi-systems were engineered to be prefabricated onto a skid in order to meet the demand of the schedule.
The 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility was completed in March 2014. We designed the building’s HVAC/plumbing and installed specialty food grade systems for manufacturing Mane’s products at an accelerated schedule.
Historically, Alter Hall has been the central classroom building for Xavier University. The $18 million retrofit was completed on time for the 2015 fall semester. The Thomas J. Dyer Company assisted on the design, and was able to streamline the installation of the HVAC/Plumbing systems.
The world headquarters for GE Aviation, the Evendale plant has been undergoing a major refit since 2012. The Thomas J. Dyer Company is currently working at this site installing various mechanical systems to support the manufacturing of jet engines.

The home of the Cincinnati Bengals NFL team, this 65,353 seat stadium was completed in August 2000. The Thomas J. Dyer Company installed the HVAC and Plumbing Systems on this $455 million facility and continues to support and upgrade its systems today

The Medical Science Building (MSB) at the University of Cincinnati underwent a $170 million phased renovation completed in 36 months of 2008. The Thomas J. Dyer Company installed the major HVAC and critical exhaust systems to maintain clean lab environments.
